Brush: Grizzly Bay Tip v8 (26mm) Fanchurian Badger
    Razor: u/EldrormR Industries MM24
    Blade: Personna GEM PTFE [3]
Lather: Stirling - Varen - Soap
Post Shave:* Stirling - Varen - Aftershave

Day of all firsts today and the shave gods decided to smile kindly on me after yesterday’s fiasco of a shave.

First go with my fresh off the mail truck u/EldrormR Industries MM24 which arrived just in time for #PracticeMMarch24. My 12 year old was oohing and ahhing over the two-tone finish when I pulled it out of the box, so expectations were high and it didn’t disappoint. I got my jawline completely smooth for what I’m pretty sure is the first time ever with a non-pivoting head razor. I assume the angle of the head just works particularly well there, or maybe there’s some voodoo magic involved in the making of it.

The sound from the razor is crazy. I’m guessing the head works like a resonance chamber or something, because it almost sounds like it’s amplified. Really interesting and provides good audio feedback when touching up as to whether you’re smooth or still have some work to do…

Also used brand new (to me) Grizzly Bay Tip v8 brush today that I got from r/Shave_Bazaar from u/Toms_Hank_. It was great as well and whipped up one of my best face lathers ever from the also arrived yesterday Stirling Varen.

I was a little on the fence on the Varen when I smelled it off the puck, but liked it when lathering. It smells super grassy, like standing in a pasture. The splash almost had a burning sensation when it went on (maybe the witch hazel in it?) but it settled down after a few minutes (though it did leave my lips a bit numb which is a weird sensation). I got a “you smell good” from my wife though, so that’s all that matters.

My son’s robotics team finished second out of 24 at the Regional robotics tournament yesterday, but unfortunately you had to win it all to advance to state, so that’s the end of robotics for this year. Now off to sit on a lacrosse field for the afternoon on a gorgeous sunny day (high of 85 this afternoon). Happy Sunday all.

As I unpack my shaving stash, most everything survived intact with one exception - my C&H brush. The knot separated cleanly from the epoxy, and there were no signs of damage to either the knot or handle. I scraped away the residual epoxy from the sides of the knot hole and used RTV silicone to reset the knot.

This is my first time using the v20 with my current lather-building technique. I slightly underloaded soap and added a bit too much water. Good thing I was using Seaforth because the 20.1 base was still slick and protective even though I got the soap/water ratio wrong. Happy shaving and have a wonderful day.

    • Brush: Zenith r/Wetshaving Exclusive 31mm Moar Boar
    • Razor: MM24
    • Blade: Personna GEM PTFE
    • Lather: Summer Break Soaps - Field Day
    • Post Shave: Summer Break Soaps - Field Day

A #PracticeMMarch24 shave today. Definitely don’t want to take the current blade through March. I’ll start a new one on the 1st. I’ve been using spring scents lately. Field Day gives me an outside for gym class in the spring feel. A very clean and green scent to me. Kind of a line dried laundry scent in the background to my nose. I loaded my soap with pretty hot water. The Moar Boar held the heat pretty well through the shave. If I had a scuttle, this is the brush for it. My other Zenith with a cooper handle would be my other choice.
